Be sure to check out the online portal for the ship-to-shore STEM education program run by Dr. Beth Orcutt of the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in collaboration with the Girl Scouts of Maine as part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge oceanographic expedition in October 2017 to study life below the seafloor. From September 24, 2017 – November 6, 2017, participating Girl Scouts of Maine troops will engage in weekly activities to learn about science, microbes, and the deep sea. Scientists at sea will post the activities as well as project results and updates from the field; local GS troop leaders will coordinate the project activities with participants and send in the results.
